The Wait...

The transport insurance is active since 27th July and valid for 3 months.

The transport company, EB Cargo, said while we were negotiating that they would pick up up to 48h after payment. Although payed on the 23rd, only scheduled collection for today. And rescheduled to Monday at the last minute...

So, my crate is still at Aries. Collection expected to happen on the 2nd August, transport to Portugal during that night, arriving on the 4th and, I hope, delivered to me on the 5th or 6th...

I hope it doesn't delay more...

Ready to Come Home

The final part arrived! It was delivered by some unknown tame driver and looks really nice!
The crate was closed the following day. Transport should collect it on the 26th or 27th, it will arrive in Lisbon around the 2nd August and be delivered to me within the week. Less than two weeks to have my hands on it all... Can't wait!!!

Let's hope that the insurance goes well... Sent an email to the broker to activate the transport insurance, the guy was on vacation. Called the following day (Friday), the colleague said he would take care of it but haven't heard back. Will have to call Monday to be sure it will be active including Monday itself...

I Can Almost See It Here!

Today I received two new photos of the crate, with everything inside except for one part that was ordered almost a month and a half ago and hasn't arrived yet: the exhaust. As soon as it arrives, the crate will be closed. It might be next week, fingers crossed!

The insurance hunt has been going well, already have a good quote for a proper transport insurance and a better quote for the civil responsability (build accidents) insurance. But still waiting for two quotes.

Last weekend I went shopping for wheels to put under the crate to help move it around and a chain and a padlock to wrap the chassis around a pilar in the garage space.

I can almost see it here. I can almost feel it...

Some small news updates

I received two more photos and the news of newly arrived parts. The photos show the chassis already inside the box (tight fit) and the bodywork. The photo's colour is "more red" than the real colour, so I'm confident that it is just as I would like it to be.

About transport, I started by contacting Portuguese transport companies. I was quoted a value that I thought was too much for a "door to door" road transport. Except DHL, that would do it for half the price but I had to get the means to load and unload a 650kg crate of the truck... Forget about it!

I then used a nice site I heard about: shiply. I registered what I wanted transported, from where to where and around what time and transport companies (mostly from the UK) bid on my request. I selected the cheapest one that costs a bit more than DHL but brings a crane to put the crate inside and out of the truck and a trolley to move inside my garage space.

Only disconfort was on the insurance. Only 2.000GBP per tonne. So I'm currently shopping for the best transport insurance to cover accidents and tefth. Also the civil responsability insurance I previously planned on doing but had only one quote.

I'm expecting to know this week if the crate will be closed on the next one... The big day is near!
